An Arts and Health Research Showcase will take place at the Irish World Academy of Music (IWAMD), University of Limerick, on Wednesday 27 September 2017.
Programme:
1.15pm Concert by students of the MA Music Therapy Course
2pm Arts and Health Research presentations by faculty of IWAMD, showcasing current research in the field of arts and health
4pm Seminar: Music and Mental Health
Featuring Mr Stephen Sandford (Strategic Lead & Professional Head of Arts Therapies, East London NHS Foundation Trust), Prof David Meagher (Chair of Psychiatry, UL) and Dr Triona McCaffrey (Lecturer in Music Therapy, UL)
5.30pm Launch of international study on the health and wellbeing benefits of singing in a choir – the first Irish study and the largest international study to date. This event is presented in association with the Music Therapy Department at IWAMD, the Arts and Health Research Cluster at UL, The Association of Irish Choirs and the RTE Lyric FM Choir of the Year Competition.
