In the Picture invites people living with dementia and their family, friends or professional carers to visit an exhibition at Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre and discuss with others in a safe and welcoming environment. The next In the Picture tour will take place on 3 October 2017.
These special tours are about making observations, describing and building connections; allowing each person the time to comfortably observe and experience the space and artwork. This seated tour includes light refreshments as part of the social and friendly approach.
About the exhibition and facilitator
Tuesday 3 October, 11:30am
This session is delivered by guest facilitator Bairbre Ann Harkin, and takes place in galleries I & II. The tour will focus on Modern Experiments, an exhibition by Susan MacWilliams that represents key pieces in the artist’s career investigating obscure and overlooked histories, and cases of perceptual and paranormal phenomena.
Bairbre Ann Harkin has been Education Curator at Butler Gallery since 2011. She has also provided consultations and delivered programming at museums and galleries in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Lithuania. Bairbre-Ann works as a tutor for Age & Opportunity’s Creative Exchanges course. Butler Gallery is a founding member of the Azure Partnership, a partnership to explore the potential for greater participation of people with dementia in cultural settings in Ireland.
