Kids’ Classics in partnership with Beaumont Hospital School have created a new production of Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, in a new music arrangement by Ciáran Hope which is narrated by Nick Grennell and performed by Kids’ Classics musicians. All shadow puppetry and visual artwork has been designed and created by young patients at Beaumont Hospital School.

This unique production will use a magical way of unveiling the story of Peter and the Wolf that evokes the imagination by using a crankie, an old storytelling art form. Watch as a long illustrated scroll is hand-cranked between two spools in a large box as shadow puppets add movement and magic as the story unfolds.

This new production is being launched in the National Concert Hall in October before embarking on a Children’s Hospital Tour to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin, the Children’s Ark Unit at University Hospital Limerick and Cork University Hospital.

The Peter and the Wolf Children’s Hospital Tour is produced by Kids’ Classics in partnership with Beaumont Hospital School. The tour is sponsored by the Community Foundation for Ireland and is supported by the participating hospitals, the National Concert Hall and Meath County Council Arts Office.
