The Arts in Group Facilitation Certificate is an experiential course run by the Department of Arts in Health and Community Practice at Cork Institute of Technology. A Level 8 CIT Special Purpose Award, this course is for artists, community workers, care assistants and anyone involved in formal and informal education. The deadline for applications is 31 December 2017.

Arts in Group Facilitation offers training in an approach which takes the emphasis off words and places it on finding your own unique style of guiding a group through a range of possible arts-based media. This approach focuses on the individuals within a group, regardless of their abilities or differences. Consequently it can be applied to a range of situations from teaching, community or social work contexts to healthcare, from occupational therapy to arts workshops.

Participants focus on the practical skills of planning and running creative workshops with groups in a range of non-formal contexts. They learn these skills through experiential learning processes, taking part in visual arts, drama, dance and music workshops and reflecting on those experiences.

Duration: 7 x 3-day training blocks during the academic year, January-June.

Fee: €1400
