A Day In The Life: Exhibition by residents of Kinvara Nursing Home at Signal Arts Centre

Signal Arts Centre in Bray is exhibiting ‘A Day in the Life’, works by residents and artists of Kinvara Nursing Home, from 16 to 29 April 2018.

‘Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
Somebody spoke and I went into a dream.’

These artworks capture significant memories that each individual resident has come to experience growing up in Ireland: moments such as climbing Nelson’s Pillar, long evenings strolling through Delgany Wood, screaming to their heart’s content on the dodge ‘ems, ploughing season in Wexford, ladies at the flower stalls in Dublin city, James Joyce and the hustle and bustle along Bray promenade.

These artworks were created by residents during weekly art classes where they engage with a variety of media.

Opening Reception: Sunday 22 April, 3-5 pm. All Welcome.
