Performance for Care is an online platform advocating for arts and creativity within healthcare education and professional development. This online resource replaces the Performance for Care symposium, which has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Responding to recent reports on arts, health and wellbeing (WHO 2019, Creative Health 2017), Performance for Care explores the contribution that the cultural sector might make in supporting health professionals at the point of care.
Join the launch at www.performanceforcare.com on 27 March 2020 from 11am UK time to hear from policy-makers and practitioners in this field. The talks will be viewable on the website after this.
The UK context for this work will be introduced by Professor Anne-Marie Rafferty (President of the Royal College of Nursing) and Alex Coulter (project director of the Creative Health report). Innovative performance-based projects involving nurses and midwives will also be showcased. Representatives from stakeholder communities – healthcare educators, users, arts practitioners – offer responses to these initiatives, reflecting on the implications of these fruitful collaborations, for policy and practice.
Gratitude is extended to symposium speakers who have provided material for this resource at short notice and with limited technical resources.
Performance for Care is led by Dr Alex Mermikides (Guildhall School of Music & Drama) and Dr Sara Donetto (Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative care, King’s College London).
